Breast Cancer Survivor Wins Lottery

A 75-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, who has recently concluded her cancer treatment, has achieved an extraordinary victory: winning $5 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Donna Osborne, a great-grandmother who just completed her last radiation session for breast cancer, had been planning to visit family in Florida with her daughter, according to the Pennsylvania Lottery.

However, after multiple flight delays, Osborne decided to return home, while her daughter continued on to Florida. On her way back, Osborne purchased a “MONOPOLY™ Own It All” scratch-off ticket from a Speedway gas station in Leola, Pennsylvania. To her astonishment, she discovered she had won the grand prize while still in the parking lot.

"I went back into the store and asked the clerk to verify the ticket," Osborne recounted to lottery officials. "The clerk confirmed, 'It's right!'"

Late last month, Pennsylvania Lottery officials presented Osborne with a commemorative check to celebrate her windfall. Despite her newfound fortune, Osborne, who earns a living by transporting the Amish, has no intention of retiring. "I don’t know what I’d do with myself. I have to keep moving," she remarked.

Osborne plans to use her winnings to travel to Alaska and invest the remainder. She also mentioned that the timing of her win couldn't have been better, as it coincided with her birthday.

In addition to Osborne's win, the Speedway where the ticket was purchased will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery.
